VP of Engineering

About the role

Amartha is looking for a VP of Engineering in South Jakarta. The role combines strategy and hands-on technical work: setting team goals, hiring engineers and prioritising projects, while also taking part in product development, defining requirements and setting timelines. The engineering team has more than 100 people and works together with the Product teams to build innovative, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects
• Monitor the reliability and performance of internal systems and suggest improvements
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations
• Manage software projects by setting requirements, goals and timelines
• Design future development strategies aligned with the company's objectives and resources
• Hire engineers and coordinate their training
• Implement innovative technologies and coordinate stakeholder integrations and tools

Required profile

• Extensive experience as an engineer, having managed complex tech projects and built products from scratch
• Experience leading a squad of 5-10 people and hiring software engineers
• Hands-on GCP experience (Cloud SQL, Postgres, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.) and a scalable architecture
• Incident management, CI/CD, automated testing and agile practices (Scrum or Kanban)
• Willingness to do some coding when required
• Fintech, financial institution or banking experience
• Machine learning experience is a plus
