I/E Engineer / Senior I/E Technician

About the role

The position supports production, utility, quality control, PPIC and laboratory functions at BASF's Merak plant in Indonesia. The role combines instrumentation and electrical engineering tasks to ensure reliable operation of plant equipment and to contribute to a safe, sustainable manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, replace and repair instrumentation and electrical equipment throughout the Merak factory.
• Perform troubleshooting, calibration and preventive/predictive maintenance on field instruments (flowmeters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, control valves) and electrical assets (transformers, circuit breakers, MCCs, switchgear, 1‑phase and 3‑phase motors).
• Execute maintenance activities according to schedule, create work orders and document daily reports.
• Support production, projects, PPIC, utility and QC activities, including root‑cause analysis for process deviations.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and occupational safety rules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Engineering Physics or related field (or Diploma with 6 years experience).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience for Bachelor holders (6 years for Diploma holders).
• Hands‑on experience with instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Proven ability to maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting DCS and PLC systems in a plant environment.
