Accountant III - Finance Advisor for Church Partners

About the role

Compassion is looking for an experienced finance professional to work with a wide network of Frontline Church Partners (FCPs) across Indonesia. The role provides financial guidance, monitoring, training and support to help partners improve financial accountability, strengthen compliance and build local capacity. It is not a desk-based accounting role: about 50% of the time is spent travelling across Indonesia, and much of the work involves field visits, training and coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Review monthly financial reports, transaction listings and consolidated audit findings submitted by FCPs, and guide them on accounting processes, financial management and compliance.
• Plan and run finance training sessions, develop learning resources and tools, and coach and mentor finance users and partner staff.
• Travel regularly to FCP locations to give hands-on support, assess partner needs and build relationships with FCP leadership and finance teams.
• Work with Finance, Partnership, People & Culture, Program Trainers and the National Leadership Team to improve systems, reporting and capacity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant accounting and financial management experience.
• Experience supporting partner organizations, reviewing partner accounts and reports, and conducting partnership assessments or organizational reviews.
• Experience leading or supervising staff.
• Willingness and ability to travel about 50% of the time.
• Preferred: Master's degree, Chartered Accountant certification, experience with grant implementation (including U.S. Government or EU-funded grants), and experience with church partners or the development sector.

Required skills

• Strong accounting and financial analysis expertise, including financial controls, compliance and risk management.
• Knowledge of Indonesian tax and VAT regulations.
• Stakeholder management, facilitation, training and coaching, and the ability to explain finance concepts to non-finance audiences.
