Youth Engagement Coordinator

About the role

Plan International Indonesia's Youth Engagement Unit (YEU) provides technical support and coordination to strengthen meaningful, safe, inclusive and accountable youth participation across its programmes, advocacy, campaigns and organizational initiatives. The Youth Engagement Coordinator (YEC) translates youth engagement strategies into practical tools and guidance, supports staff and young people, and builds partnerships with youth-led organizations. The role reports to the Youth Engagement Manager and works closely with the Youth Engagement Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Operationalize the Youth Engagement Strategy into implementation plans, tools and activities, and support youth-led groups in developing strategies, action plans and reflection processes.
• Guide youth-led groups in designing and running youth-led programmes, campaigns, movement-building, recruitment, mobilization and capacity-building.
• Help programmes and teams overcome barriers to youth participation and adapt engagement approaches to changing contexts.
• Document youth engagement milestones, outcomes, learning and youth journeys, supporting regular reporting on youth-led programmes.
• Support young people in programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, including theories of change and programme frameworks.
• Apply youth-centered standards, frameworks and quality assurance mechanisms across programmes, campaigns and advocacy.
• Contribute to funding opportunities by preparing proposals, concept notes, pitch materials, budgets and donor engagement materials.
• Work with the MER team on measurement, monitoring, research and learning, and with Impact teams on participatory feedback mechanisms.
• Strengthen youth platforms and networks such as the Youth Advisory Panel, PlaNet and the Youth Accelerator Fund, and connect youth champions and organizations with policymakers.

The role is based in Jakarta. Candidates must be authorized to work in Indonesia, as visa sponsorship is not available.
