Technician III, Chemical Production Operations

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Technician III to support chemical production of medical‑device lenses. The role involves preparing formulations, operating laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with GMP standards in a clean, safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and mix chemical compounds for medical‑device and implantable lens production.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as balances, homogenizers, chromatography columns and moisture analyzers.
• Dispose of laboratory waste and reagents according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and follow SOPs to meet Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Inspect products, address deviations and report HSE concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements, cost efficiency and scheduling.

Required profile

• Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field.
• Open to recent graduates; 2‑3 years experience in a medical or pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory is preferred.
• Strong understanding of laboratory and manufacturing best practices (GXP, GMP).
• Basic proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Operation of balances, homogenizers, chromatography columns and moisture analyzers.
• Chemical mixing and formulation preparation.
• Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance.
• Knowledge of hazardous chemical handling.
