Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at StraitsX designs, builds and maintains the infrastructure that applications depend on. At senior level, you own reliability, performance and cost outcomes for the systems in your area end-to-end, making trade-offs, scoping ambiguous problems and driving process and system improvements across teams. You will work closely with development, security and product teams and mentor other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Own availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems across cloud (AWS/GCP) and on-premises environments.
• Design and evolve the Kubernetes deployment strategy for production workloads.
• Own CI/CD and GitOps pipelines in production (ArgoCD or equivalent) and the Terraform that provisions the underlying infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
• Build and maintain observability that surfaces problems before they become incidents.
• Identify and implement process and system improvements, and lead medium-to-large infrastructure initiatives, prioritising by business impact.
• Negotiate technical trade-offs with stakeholders to meet business SLAs.
• Mentor peers and junior engineers, maintain documentation and lead structured incident investigations with a metrics-first approach, including on-call during high-traffic events.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, MLOps or platform engineering, including senior-level scope at a high-traffic company.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and Linux fundamentals.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps, database performance analysis, observability tooling and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong written and spoken English, strong documentation discipline, and on-call and incident-handling experience.
• Comfortable negotiating technical compromises with stakeholders and owning ambiguous scope.

Required skills

• Cloud: deep expertise in one major provider (preferably AWS), with quick ramp-up on the other.
• Kubernetes and Linux.
• CI/CD and GitOps (ArgoCD or equivalent).
• Database performance analysis (MySQL, Postgres).
• Observability (Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
