Electrical Power Engineer

About the role

Join Surbana Jurong in Jakarta as an Electrical Power Engineer responsible for confirming project scope, preparing designs, cost estimates and overseeing execution of electrical and instrumentation & control (I&C) works. You will work closely with sponsors, clients and internal teams to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Confirm project scope and objectives with sponsors/clients for electrical and I&C works.
• Develop preliminary designs, single‑line diagrams, wiring layouts and prepare budget estimates.
• Produce detailed cost estimates for electrical and I&C deliverables.
• Finalize electrical design through FEL‑1, FEL‑2, FEL‑3 and DED stages.
• Manage construction assistance, commissioning and start‑up, ensuring compliance with standards, cost, schedule and safety.
• Forecast, report and control project cost, schedule, scope and safety performance.
• Collate hand‑over documentation and close out projects according to SMEC/SJ procedures.
• Perform system design, load flow studies, short‑circuit and fault analysis, protective relay coordination and arc‑flash evaluations using specialized software.

Required skills

• Proficiency with power system software such as ETAP, PSSE or DigSilent Power Factory.
• Experience creating single‑line diagrams, wiring layouts and electrical schematics.
• Ability to size cables, transformers, circuit breakers and design substations or microgrids.
• Conduct load flow, short‑circuit, fault analysis and protective relay coordination.
• Perform arc‑flash hazard evaluations.
• Knowledge of renewable energy integration and I&C scope.
