Chemist – Laboratory Analyst (Balikpapan)

About the role

Alfred H Knight, through its Indonesian entity PT AHK Testing Indonesia, is seeking a Chemist to join the laboratory team in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The company provides independent analysis and inspection services to the metals, minerals and solid fuels sectors, and is known for its expertise in weighing, sampling and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform precise chemical analyses on samples such as nickel matte and raw materials using techniques like XRF, ICP, AAS and CS Analyzer.
• Prepare samples, operate analytical equipment, document findings and ensure data integrity.
• Participate in calibration, maintenance and validation of laboratory instruments.
• Support quality‑assurance processes and develop new testing methods while adhering to safety and environmental protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• In‑depth knowledge of analytical techniques and laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Experience (or willingness) to work as a Laboratory Analyst/Chemist; fresh graduates are encouraged.
• Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 17025, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and quality‑control procedures.
• Ability to analyse complex data sets, troubleshoot experiments and optimise processes.
