WASH Technical Support Consultant

About the role

The WASH Technical Support Consultant will provide technical and operational assistance for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities implemented by Save the Children Indonesia. The role ensures that interventions are properly planned, executed, monitored and documented, meeting program objectives, quality standards and safeguarding requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and WASH experts in planning and implementing WASH activities according to the scope of work, workplan, budget and donor requirements.
• Conduct WASH needs assessments at community, household, school and public facility levels and help prioritize vulnerable groups.
• Develop activity plans, technical specifications, bills of quantities, terms of reference and other documentation for water supply, boreholes, treatment systems, sanitation facilities, hand‑washing stations and hygiene promotion.
• Facilitate implementation of safe drinking water access, water treatment, sanitation infrastructure, hygiene behaviour change and community‑based WASH management.
• Provide technical advice on infrastructure design, water sources, sanitation and hygiene interventions.
• Carry out site visits and technical monitoring to verify compliance with approved designs, specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, technical consultants and implementing partners as needed.

Required profile

• Experience in planning, implementing or supervising WASH programmes in community or institutional settings.
• Ability to work closely with local communities, government authorities, schools, health facilities and partner organisations.
• Familiarity with safeguarding requirements and documentation procedures for development projects.

Required skills

• Conducting WASH needs assessments.

• Technical monitoring and quality assurance of WASH infrastructure.
