Site Director - Construction

About the role

A global mining and metallurgy company, expanding its joint venture project, is looking for a Site Director - Construction to lead the project based on Halmahera Island, Indonesia. The role covers planning, coordination and steering of construction activities, from project set-up through to handover.

Key responsibilities

• Define the project scope and budget, and set up and negotiate construction execution plans (schedule, resources, milestones) for each contract scope.
• Set up, coordinate and oversee the construction team, including subcontractors, and work out project specifications.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as the client, suppliers, partners and authorities, and liaise with interface parties to resolve issues.
• Control and monitor construction activities against the contract in terms of deadline, budget, quality, safety and profitability, and anticipate site and construction risks.
• Draw up reports, participate in design studies and optimise construction solutions.
• Manage construction documentation, including the MDR for handover to the commissioning team, and ensure quality compliance with documented standards.
• Inform the line manager of deviations from the construction plan and keep the project team aligned on interfaces, battery limits and technical specs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience as a Construction Manager in a large project environment.
• Diverse international experience, especially with multinational teams, and ability to work in Asian and European environments.
• Fluent English is a must; excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of project management systems, engineering, construction and documentation control.
