Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our client’s telecom team in Jakarta. The role focuses on building and maintaining automated UI and API test frameworks, ensuring high‑quality releases in a fast‑paced Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust UI and API automation scripts using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or RestAssured.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins for continuous regression testing.
• Review product requirements, create detailed test plans, write clear test cases and identify high‑value automation candidates.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers and DevOps to embed quality throughout the Scrum lifecycle.
• Log, track and investigate defects using JIRA, and support root‑cause analysis for complex failures.
• Research and introduce modern testing tools and best practices to continuously improve the testing process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in test automation or software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript or C#.
• Experience with UI automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium) and API testing frameworks (RestAssured, Postman, Supertest).
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps basics, including pipeline integration.
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, HTTP and basic to intermediate SQL.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
