Banking Operations Intern

About the role

StraitsX is expanding into new regional markets and needs a Banking Operations Intern to support its Banking and Finance Operations team. The intern acts as the administrative engine behind the new bank onboarding process, working closely with senior treasury and finance professionals to manage KYC documentation, coordinate new account setups and meet compliance requirements for banking partners.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, organize, securely package and submit KYC and corporate documents (e.g. certificates of incorporation, director registers) needed for new bank account setups.
• Maintain and update the bank onboarding tracker daily so stakeholders see the status of pending accounts and outstanding requirements.
• Support communication with banking partners by drafting responses to basic follow-up queries and providing updated signatures or missing files.
• Identify bottlenecks in the onboarding workflow and help build a standardized Bank Onboarding Checklist/Playbook.

Required profile

• Final-year student or fresh graduate with a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or a closely related field.
• Exceptional attention to detail, as errors in banking and compliance documentation can delay account setups.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple document checklists and deadlines across banking partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable writing emails to external banking representatives.
• Proactive, eager to learn and comfortable with repetitive but critical administrative work in a fast pace.

Nice to have

• Basic familiarity with KYC, AML or corporate compliance concepts.
• Previous internship or coursework in corporate treasury, banking operations or legal/compliance administration.

Required skills

• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and/or Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs).
