Transportation Drainage Engineer-in-Training

About the role

We are seeking a Drainage Engineer‑in‑Training to join our transportation drainage team. The role involves delivering hydrologic and hydraulic designs for transportation projects from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior hydraulics engineers in performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation projects.
• Design drainage systems such as storm drains, culverts, ditches, and stormwater management facilities using modeling software.
• Prepare CADD plans and digital files for bidding and construction.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure value and client service.
• Develop calculations, design documents, and adhere to industry and client standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• 0‑4 years of experience in storm‑water design for transportation projects; municipal or state DOT experience preferred.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (preferred).
• Experience using CADD for plan preparation.
