Commercial Property Underwriter (Jakarta)

About the role

The Commercial Property Underwriter evaluates and underwrites insurance risks for a range of commercial assets, ensuring submissions meet Zurich’s underwriting standards while supporting portfolio profitability. The role works closely with brokers, agents and internal teams to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess submissions for office buildings, shopping centres, hotels, manufacturing facilities, warehouses and other commercial properties.
• Analyse risk exposures based on location, construction type, occupancy, insured values, loss history and risk controls.
• Determine appropriate pricing, coverage terms, conditions, deductibles and policy limits within delegated authority.
• Review risk survey reports and recommend risk mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, sales teams and clients to understand insurance needs and provide underwriting support.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Property Underwriting, Commercial Underwriting or a similar insurance role.
• Strong understanding of commercial property insurance principles, underwriting practices, risk assessment and pricing methodologies.
• Knowledge of policy wording, reinsurance concepts and relevant insurance regulations.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, communication and negotiation abilities.
