Senior Packaging & Labelling Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Packaging & Labelling Engineer to lead the development, validation, and implementation of packaging and labeling solutions for eye‑care products. You will collaborate with vendors, cross‑functional teams, and regulatory groups to ensure compliant, efficient, and sustainable packaging processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize packaging systems (pouches, blister trays, cartons, labels, shrink‑wrap, etc.) to meet functional, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage equipment and process validations under the Quality system change‑control process.
• Coordinate integration of new products and processes into manufacturing lines.
• Lead prototype design, assembly, testing, and line trials for new packaging concepts.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance readiness of packaging machinery and inspection systems, including vision systems.
• Integrate quality assurance and risk management (pFMEA, QRA) into packaging design and processes.
• Create, review, and manage product artwork and labeling documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in packaging design and validation for medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and GxP compliance.
• Proven ability to work with vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of leading root‑cause investigations and implementing continuous‑improvement initiatives.
