Site Project Engineer – Greenfield Mining Project

About the role

A global mining and metallurgy company, expanding through a joint venture, is looking for a Site Project Engineer to kickstart a greenfield project on Halmahera Island, Indonesia. The employer is recruiting on behalf of its client, and the position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Project planning and set-up: define the project scope and justification, help define the budget and optimise human, technical and financial resources, and establish and negotiate the implementation plan (schedule, resources, milestones).
• Set up, coordinate and control the project team, including subcontractors; prepare activity checklists for change management and keep engineering documents updated and shared with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate all stakeholders (suppliers, subcontractors), manage relations with clients, partners and authorities, and control the project against deadline, budget, quality, safety and profitability.
• Anticipate risks, draw up reports, take part in design studies and optimise technical solutions, and inform the line manager of contract deviations.
• Control documentation quality, manage project documentation (engineering, procurement and project management), and communicate on interfaces, battery limits and technical specs.
• Take part in end-of-contract reviews and feedback sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• 3 to 4 years of experience as a Project Engineer in large projects (over $500 million) with large, complex industrial capital projects.
• Diverse international experience, especially with Western owners, Chinese engineering and construction contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Fluent English and Mandarin, as close collaboration with Chinese contractors is expected.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment (China, Indonesia, France).

Required skills

• Knowledge of engineering and documentation control software.
