Project Engineer - Mechanical, Packages & Piping

About the role

This temporary, full-time position in Batam involves coordinating and delivering mechanical, package and piping engineering activities within project teams. The engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams and vendors and supports the project from design through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of material requisitions and technical requirements for purchase orders.
• Carry out technical bid evaluations (TBE).
• Coordinate with process, piping, instrument, automation, electrical, procurement and QA/QC teams, as well as vendors.
• Follow company procedures as defined in the QA/QC manual.
• Support fabrication, inspection and testing activities (FAT, SAT, inspections).
• Provide technical support during construction, installation and commissioning.
• Prepare and/or coordinate work procedures for manufacturing, handling, assembling and lifting of equipment as required by the client.
• Review and resolve technical queries (TQs), NCRs and deviations at any stage of the project.
• Ensure proper documentation and data management throughout the project lifecycle, including installation, commissioning, start-up, operation and maintenance documentation.
• Prepare notices to change (NOC) to the fabricator via the Engineering Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or EPC projects.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience in vendor management and technical bid evaluations.
• Familiarity with inspection and testing requirements.
• Experience in project environments such as FEED, EPC and EPCIC.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
