Lead Backend Engineer

About the role

Astro Technologies Indonesia is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to drive the evolution of its high‑performance backend services. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver new features, optimise databases, and ensure reliable communication through RPC and messaging systems while championing best‑practice engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define goals, priorities, and technical solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineering team members, conduct code reviews, and enforce coding standards.
• Translate product requirements into clear technical tasks and break down complex problems into manageable components.
• Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of backend features, from design through testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Research and apply engineering best practices to maintain system stability, scalability, and efficiency.
• Explore AI tools that can enhance development productivity and integrate them into daily workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on leadership experience.
• Deep understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases, data modelling, and query optimisation.
• Proven experience designing scalable, reliable, fault‑tolerant systems.
• Solid grasp of the software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Curious, proactive mindset with strong communication skills and a passion for learning new technologies.
