General Galley Steward – Fixed Term (SBI, Indonesia)

About the role

The General Galley Steward ensures the galley operates smoothly by maintaining cleanliness, handling dishwashing processes, and supporting food and supply transport. This fixed‑term position is based in SBI, Indonesia, and follows USPH and company standards for hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and clean galley equipment, china, glassware, and dishwashing areas.
• Follow waste‑separation and environmental compliance policies.
• Execute proper dishwashing, food handling, and cleaning procedures in line with USPH standards.
• Handle, rack, pre‑rinse, store, and deliver clean dishes efficiently.
• Maintain high productivity, cleanliness, and sanitation throughout the galley.
• Care for equipment and utensils to prevent damage or loss.
• Report malfunctioning equipment or repairs needed to the Chief Steward.
• Adhere to company dress code, personal conduct, and performance standards.
• Follow instructions from the Chief Steward and Executive Chef.
• Perform additional duties related to health, environmental, safety, and security as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a 5‑star hotel, cruise ship, or high‑profile restaurant.
• Certification from an accredited advanced food‑safety program.
• Degree from an accredited culinary college or university.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.

Required skills

• Food safety certification.
• Knowledge of VSP (Vessel Sanitation Program) preferred.
• Proficiency with kitchen machinery and knife safety.
