Assistant Operations Manager – Indonesia

About the role

The Assistant Operations Manager – Indonesia will lead and manage all shipping operations across the Indonesian region, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely handling of vessels, cargo, and port activities while complying with company standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day port operations, including vessel scheduling, berthing coordination, cargo discharge/loading and turnaround performance.
• Build and maintain relationships with port authorities, terminal operators, customs and other regulatory agencies to ensure smooth vessel clearance.
• Lead the local operations team to follow SOPs, safety standards and service‑level agreements.
• Monitor vessel movements and port congestion, taking proactive steps to mitigate delays.
• Respond swiftly to operational disruptions such as schedule changes, weather impacts or documentation issues.
• Provide accurate reporting on vessel performance, cargo handling and cost control to regional and global stakeholders.
• Collaborate with commercial, customer service and logistics teams to support business continuity and customer satisfaction.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including resource optimisation, digitisation and process enhancements.
