Technical/Process Safety Engineer (Expat)

About the role

The Technical/Process Safety Engineer will support upstream oil and gas topside facilities, ensuring compliance with international safety standards and delivering robust process safety designs. This expatriate position is based in Indonesia and reports to the FPU safety team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Process Safety Design Basis, conceptual designs, specifications, simulations, calculations, datasheets, and standard drawings.
• Produce hazardous area classification drawings, escape route layouts, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and safety integrity level (SIL) assessments.
• Conduct Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) for critical processes.
• Utilize software tools such as PIPENET, FLARESIM, and PHAST to model safety scenarios and support safe evacuation and rescue plans (EERA).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in process safety engineering for upstream oil and gas facilities.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards (API, IEC 61508/61511, ISO, DNV, ABS, IMO).

Required skills

• Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessment.
• Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
• Proficiency with PIPENET, FLARESIM, and PHAST software.
