Ports & Maritime Manager

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Ports & Maritime Manager to lead our business development, bid management and project delivery activities in Indonesia. The role will strengthen Surbana Jurong’s presence in the port and maritime sector and drive growth across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business plan and strategy to expand Surbana Jurong/SMEC’s footprint in Indonesia’s ports and maritime market.
• Collaborate with the sub‑regional lead to set budgets and marketing strategies, and launch campaigns within approved spend.
• Engage with port and maritime clients, present the firm’s capabilities, and build strategic relationships.
• Manage stakeholder coordination among clients, design teams, site teams and other parties.
• Lead vendor registration, bid preparation and tender submission processes, securing internal approvals.
• Head a multidisciplinary team of engineers and draftspersons, overseeing project delivery and quality compliance.
• Act as project manager and reviewer, ensuring designs meet statutory standards, regulations and codes of practice.
• Support internal reporting requirements for the sub‑regional lead.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Coastal Engineering (Master’s degree in Structural or Geotechnical preferred).
• 12‑15 years of overall experience, including at least 5 years in coastal or port development projects in Indonesia.
• Proven track record in business development, tender preparation and client engagement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship‑building abilities.
• Willingness to take on multiple roles such as business development, bid management and project management.

Required skills

• Port design and construction management (experience preferred).
