Freelance Android Engineer (Project Based)

About the role

Astro is a fast‑growing quick‑commerce company in Indonesia that delivers groceries and essentials within 15 minutes. We are looking for a Freelance Android Engineer on a project‑based contract to develop and maintain internal Android applications that support our operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new features and maintain existing Android functionality for internal operational apps.
• Fix bugs and implement minor enhancements under senior engineer guidance.
• Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code following Android best practices.
• Build user interfaces with Jetpack Compose and translate Figma designs into functional screens.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams throughout the development cycle.
• Write basic unit and UI tests for assigned tasks.
• Participate in code reviews, apply feedback, and help improve overall code quality.
• Support app stability and performance, including basic crash monitoring and documentation.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience developing Android applications.
• Proficiency in Kotlin as the primary programming language.
• Hands‑on experience with Jetpack Compose for UI development.
• Familiarity with modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or Clean Architecture.
• Experience writing unit and UI tests.
• Comfortable working with Git‑based workflows and basic CI/CD pipelines.
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and grow under senior engineer mentorship.
