2nd Commis Pastry – Fixed‑Term Cruise Ship Role

About the role

Handles and prepares food for service to guests and crew according to the company’s menus and recipes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of all pastry according to company recipes.
• Maintain and return equipment and utensils properly to prevent damage.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Pastry Chef.
• Follow guidelines and instructions established by the Pastry Chef.
• Maintain high levels of productivity, cleanliness and sanitation throughout the shift.
• Prepare lido, floating and breakfast stations as required.
• Work at any pastry station based on operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with company recipes, SOPs and training requirements.

Required profile

• At least 1 year experience in a 5‑star hotel, cruise ship or high‑profile restaurant.
• Experience in high‑volume operations serving 100 + meals per service.
• National Certificate in Pastry.
• Certification from an accredited advanced food‑safety program.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Required skills

• National Certificate in Pastry.
• Advanced food‑safety certification.
• Knowledge of VSP (Vessel Sanitation Program) preferred.
• Operation of kitchen machinery and knife safety.
